Safer for babies but too hard for a good sleep May 13, 2011
By PandaWatcher This mattress is made by Colgate. Look up any standard sized crib mattress for reviews on their foam mattresses. I understand that this is supposed to be best for babies to avoid SIDS, etc.
I will say that it fits perfectly and snug. I'm not worried that it will shift or leave any space for my child to get stuck. Because it is 4" thick, be cautious about buying older oval sheets. They were made for the slightly thinner foam mattress and are a tight stretch on the Colgate mattress. The newer Stokke fitted sheets fit fine. (I also use regular crib sheets with bed sheet fastners to keep it tight fitting, but this is a personal choice if you're worried about safety.)
Some people love Colgates but not me. I find it hard to believe anyone could get a good night's sleep on this. It is rock HARD. There is barely any give, especially for a child of 25 pounds. I rested my face on this mattress and it's worse than resting my head on my 1" thick carpeted floor. I can understand using this for an infant under 6 months but not for a toddler.
Stokke sells this version only in North America as far as I can tell. (There must be some U.S. consumer regulation they have to meet.) In other parts of the world, they sell their wonderful, springy foam mattress with the waved bottom venting. If you can afford it, buy something else.

We bought this mattress upon recommendation from Stokke (great customer service btw) as a replacement mattress that came with the Crib. We love the Sleepi crib, but did not really wanted a firm mattress that fit the crib perfectly. This is it. It is firm, which is what is good for prevention of SIDS. A crib mattresses is supposed to be firm. Further, I did my research and there are no harmful chemicals in this mattress. The mattress also has a nice cover pattern on it.
It is now in use as a family member's house for the second child and looks just as good as when we bought it originally. It is a very durable mattress and both children have slept very well on it. Worth every penny.

By Gabriel "Love It" We purchased the Stokke Sleepi for our son. He gets plenty of use from playing with his toys to bouncing up and down like a jack in the box. It has been very dependable and sturdy I would suggest purchasing one for your child.

By Julne1 "Our Baby Sleeps Great" We purchased the Stokke Sleepi for the crib we registered for. It was delivered promptly and provides our child with a firm mattress that has they love to sleep on. We have recommended it to our friends that bought the same crib.
